Phantasy Star Online 2 - Planets and their Enemies (Creatures)

Naverius

Description

Naverius is an unusual planet of its own kind; while otherwise pretty habitable, it has an extreme weather condition; one minute might be sunny, only to be followed by sudden rain. Additionally, the native creatures that call the planet home seem to be abnormally aggressive. The planet is mainly split into three different areas: Forest, Tundra, and Ruins.

Forest

The Forest Area is a lush, open habitat noted by an abundance of flora, like flowers, tall grass and trees. This is a very basic landscape with few complexities, such as rock formations that players can use to ascend and large boulders that block the path. The weather is extremely unstable sometimes, and pretty varied, including harsh sunlight, dense fog and hard rain. This is the home of most Natives that reside in Naverius, including the fearsome Rockbear.

Tundra

The Tundra is an icy, snow-covered land situated next to the Forest. The Tundra features chasms and steep slopes, both of which need the assistance of Catapults to be traversed. Snowstorms happen pretty often, which might reduce an operative’s line of sight. Unlike the Forest, the Tundra is not a natural product of Naverius’ environment, as it is a side effect of Dark Falz Elder being sealed within the planet by ARKS. Most of the Natives that reside in the area have adapted to the harsh environment by possessing thick body or special coatings. Others chose to become the alpha forces of the ecosystem, such as the hunting couples of Snow Banser and Snow Banshee.

Ruins

The Ruins is a mysterious region littered by the machinery of seemingly long-abandoned civilization. The highlight of this area is a massive spire impaled into the earth that can be seen in the background. Mysterious structures called the Grim Monoliths can be found scattered throughout the region. There is also a larger monument in the area that seals Dark Falz Elder. Unlike the other two areas, this area has a tendency to attract a variety of Falspawn, with a large specimen called Zeshraider lurking in its depths.

Corrupted Region

After being affected by the Profound Darkness, a region of the Forest became twisted, in what is known as the Corrupted Region. The Forest in this part has been infected by the Profound Darkness’s temporal abilities, creating an acceleration in time that caused this region to age rapidly; soils are degraded, with former greenscapes and trees turning brown with decay. The natives are also affected by this, turning them into the horrific tainted enemies.

Amduskia

Amduskia is mainly divided into two large biomes. The planet’s surface layer is a hot molten area covered in underground caverns created by lava that flows through the planet’s crust, mostly referred to by ARKS as the Volcanic Caves or the Cauldron. High up in the atmosphere of the planet is an area called the Floating Continent, a vast collection of floating continental plates that span across the entire planet’s horizon.

Volcanic Caves

The Volcanic Caves consists of a network of lava caverns spanning the entire surface layer of Amduskia. It is a rough area with high temperature and active eruptions on its surface, so any operatives on a mission have to watch their step. Additionally, hostile Draconians might set up isolation traps in the form of stone gates that might divide squad members. A huge and strong Draconian called the Vol Dragon dwells within the cavern.

Floating Continent

In contrast to the molten cavern down below, the Floating Continent is a cluster of continental plates that float high up in the freezing atmosphere. This area is inhabited by a different breed of Draconian with blue scales instead of red. This area is also where the most advanced form of Draconics evolve. Just like on the surface, hostile Draconians set up isolation traps to catch unwary invaders, but instead of walls to divide, it’s in the form of descending floors barred with electric traps to quarter them. The assistance of Catapults is needed to escape from the traps. Most of the Draconians that inhabit the area is capable of flight, including the fierce Quartz Dragon.

Dragon Altar

Deep within the Floating Continent lies the Dragon Altar, a sacred grounds for the Draconians of Amduskia. The Dragon Altar is a maze-like area enclosed off from the outside world that is constantly changing with its shifting walls and floors. This area is a resting grounds for Amduskia’s Draconians; it is said that whenever a Draconian dies, their soul returns here and gather until a higher form is achieved and they are once again reborn into the world. Due to its religious importance, the toughest of the Draconians’ guards are stationed here, under the lead of a Dragon X.

Corrupted Region

There’s a certain region in Amduskia that has been badly corrupted by the Profound Darkness’ influences. This area, called the Corrupted Region, is filled to the brim with overgrown minerals and traps in the form of crystal barriers. The former vanguards of the Draconics that reside here have also been twisted beyond saving, even among the higher ranks.

Lillipa

Description

Lillipa is a sparsely inhabited desert planet with raging sandstorms large enough to penetrate past the planet’s atmosphere and into space. There are implication of the existence of once-thriving and highly advanced civilizations in times immemorial that have disappeared due ancient wars. The automata used during the ensuing battles can still be found straying around the planet. The only living traces of any form of advanced civilization left seems to be of the Lillipan scavengers. Insect Falspawn have constantly attacked the remote mining base located in the vast desert to recover a part of their leader, Apprentice.

Desert

The main make-up of the planet is a huge barren desert, stretching beyond the horizon and even into space. Sandstorms are frequent, and concentrated whirlwinds have known to carry over unwitting ARKS personnel into places. Scattered around the area are small factories capable of pumping Automata nonstop, resulted in waves of machines coming despite the previous ones being destroyed or deteriorated. Rare minerals can also be found in the area. The soft sands have been known to hide dangers within, including a Falspawn invader known as Gwanahda.

Underground Shafts

Numerous subterranean tunnels make up a maze of catacombs and chambers underneath Lillipa’s surface. These tunnels are used for mining and bases to house large Automata factories. Traps litter the area to eliminate any potential invaders, and the heartless Automata have roamed the artificial tunnels aimlessly. Deep inside the factories lie a gigantic mobile Automata fortress called the Big Varder.

Abandoned Mine

Multiple abandoned mines are also scattered about the planet’s surface, containing many rare and precious minerals. It is noted that the Abandoned Mine area seems to house a friendlier environment than the harsh desert outside. Teleporters used to travel the complex quickly can still be found and used. Many Lillipan settlements are also built around the areas. Winged Falspawn have also found their way alongside their insectoid brethren, spearheaded by the large and armed Bryu Ringahda.

Wopal

Description

Wopal is a planet mostly covered by ocean, with its landmass consisting of rocky surfaces or white-sand beaches. A huge amount of water accumulates in Wopal’s atmosphere and might fall down in deluges similar to huge waterfalls in the sky. The planet rotates at a fast rate, resulting in very short day cycles. Due to Lurther’s mad experiments with Photon particles, Falspawn have invaded the minds of most of the Oceanid population, except for a select portion. Additionally, the researches have resulted in several mutated Oceanids, including a sub-group with human-like genes.

Coast

The only natural landmass covering Wopal is the coastal area, consisting of rocks and soft sands. In the distance, what appears to be large, old facilities can be seen. The waterfall-like deluges fall from the sky into the horizon and the skies made for a breathtaking sight, but any ARKS ops should remain cautious of any fierce Oceanids that crawl ashore or any readings of winged Falspawn. A fearsome Oceanid known by word of mouth among ARKS, the Bar Lodos, can be encountered further in.

Seabed

Down into the seabed cavern is where the more exotic Oceanids thrive. Most of them have been influenced into madness by the Falspawn, but ARKS ops who saw any non-hostile specimens in distress should proceed into rescue procedure immediately. Manmade waterfalls and pumps can be found in the area, as well as strange switches that control the water levels of the cavern. A beautiful Oceanid specimen called the Biol Meduna can be found dancing around the torrents deeper into the maze.

Floating Facility

The remains of facilities utilized by Luther for his mad experiments. While the facility is no longer active, the mutated Oceanids remain and have multiplied to the point of populating the place. Oceanid pirates use the facility as landmarks and docks which might endanger any investigators passing by. Traces of strong winged Bwomf are also present. A draconian Oceanid called Nept Casadohra had made the facility its domain, alongside the lizardine Leomaduraad.
